The importance of patient satisfaction surveys for our humanity

We live in an information world. Everything we want to find out, we can simply find it on the Internet. When you want to buy a furniture or maybe even a car, where do you take a research for the information about it? On the web, right? You want to hear what the other people think about that, is it the right purchase, what are the ratings and experiences? No one wants to spend their hard earned money in a wrong way, and that is smart. Also, no one likes to be fooled. I think if people should try to do a research before anything they want to purchase or have an experience with (schools, spa centers, gyms for example), they would choose smarter. Do you want to be sure and safe that you are in the right hands? Do you worry about your health or have you lost your trust in the medicine because of some bad experiences? We can understand that, and it sadly happens. We will now talk about the importance of patient satisfaction surveys!

In last two decades, these surveys have gained so much attention. They give people the meaningful sources and information about the clinics and doctors they attend to visit. Your health is your best wealth and you should take it seriously! Healthcare patient satisfaction is so much important because nowadays we can hear so many bad stories running around the web which can freeze our blood in the veins. Everyone is frightened, we lost our trust in doctors, we think that the education isn't as it was before anymore etc.

This is not only important for us, but also for the doctors, clinics, and medicine in general. They want to know what went wrong and what can they do better to provide more successful treatments for their patients. The patient satisfaction in the surveys represents how did they feel when they have entered some hospital, were they satisfied with the treatment, was the staff of the clinic emphatic and much more. It is the 21st century and we can nowadays talk to the entire planet from our home. Surveys were really huge experiments in the days without the high-technology, because it would take so long to provide them and also to get the results. Now, everyone can do it even from their home.

There are the two methods which are used as the search strategies in the surveys. The first method is named keywords and the second is called the snowball. Patient survey companies in this way empirically research everything the person experienced when they were in their country or even in the foreign country while being hospitalized or just having the doctor's appointment. There are a lot of different instruments while measuring the patient's satisfaction. For example are the instruments like spectrum, which is provided by the private vendors. Those are often not published and usually not such valid. So the companies needed to find the better solutions.

Nowadays, we have so many experts and psychologist who know how to make the proper standardized instruments which are valid and can affect the change for better health service for everyone. The main goal is that the companies get the right feedback from their patients, and then to deliver those to the hospitals and everywhere needed. Those surveys are mostly taken by people who attend the private clinics, but they are also used within the patients who had very positive or sadly, very negative experience with their health care. This is the problem that needs to be talked about!

Patient satisfaction surveys measure the various dimensions that patients experience or have experienced in the past. They provide the feedback about the health treatment quality, the behavior of the employees in the hospital, about the rooms, which can include even the food and the hygiene levels. So, it all needs to achieve the great feedback about the technical, social, interpersonal and most important-the moral aspects of care. Besides all that we have mentioned, it is important that the surveys are provided for various kinds of population-depending on their age, material status, health problems, race, gender and more.

We need to encourage people and to inform them about the great importance of such surveys! Nothing can be changed for better if people don't express their opinions.
